What is Styled Vintage?

Styled Vintage began life as The Shakespeare Shoppe. Owned by Australian actor & graphic designer, Sally McLean, known for creating and directing the internationally multi award-winning digital series Shakespeare Republic and heading up the critically acclaimed film, theatre and digital content production business, Incognita Enterprises. The brand began life focused only on Shakespeare. But it has now evolved. As all things should.

We have been in the business of selling unique, original designs on clothing, homewares and gifts since 2005 and currently have over 450 designs available on hundreds of products across our three primary outlets.

With an interest in all things vintage, acting, filmmaking, humour, literature and Shakespeare, we are partnered with Redbubble, TeePublic and Printful (via our Etsy shop) who are on-demand printing and fulfilment companies who work with us by printing up our designs on items as they are ordered, securely handle all the financial transactions, then ship the product to you the customer. Combined, they have printing and shipping facilities in Australia, North America and Europe, with partners in Japan and Brazil – keeping production and shipping as local as possible, so lowering the impact on the environment.

We not only ship, but also sell these products with sustainability in mind. By choosing to sell products that are made on‑demand, we help reduce overproduction waste and stop additional clothing going into landfill. Also, by working with companies who source their products with eco-credentials in mind, including finding more and more Eco-friendly products from certified suppliers, as well as testing them for quality and durability, we ensure that when you buy a product bearing one of our designs, it is designed to last and keep giving you joy for years to come.

As every purchase from Styled Vintage is printed on-demand there are no warehouses filled with unsold products, and most items are shipped from locations closest to their final destination to cut down on their carbon and energy footprint via our chosen suppliers.

We have sourced ethically-minded suppliers and companies for the blank products our designs are printed on who are held to safe, non-hazardous, and toxin-free production standards via a Fair Labor Code of Conduct. They are also committed to using non-toxic inks and to ensuring low textile waste. Suppliers are also compliant with the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) – a key instrument in the EU product safety legal framework, effective December 13, 2024. The GPSR requires all consumer products in the EU markets to be safe and establishes specific obligations for businesses to ensure this.

The third party printers of our products are evaluated according to International Labor Organization standards and source apparel blanks from manufacturers committed to improving cotton farming practices, such as initiatives like the Better Cotton Initiative.
